Fs2004 scenery-half moon bay airport was built in 1943 by cal trans for the u. S. Army air corp. Designed to be part of the coastal protection network during world war ii, the airport was deeded to san mateo county in 1950. Some time after, the airport was actually used by some airlines as an alternate to sfo. Today large aircraft (greater than 12, 500 pounds) are prohibited without prior approval. For little aircraft, however, half moon bay airport is a beautiful link in the chain of ga airports located along the california coastline.
